Gold Standard

Measure, reduce, offset

A leading voluntary carbon offset program.

Established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions featured the highest levels of environmental integrity and also contributed to sustainable development.

Carbon Offsetting is the process of redressing carbon emissions by funding CO2 reduction projects. This can be a cost-effective mechanism for customers using fossil fuels. The leading provider of Carbon Offsets is Gold Standard. With the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals, they launched a best practice standard for climate and sustainable development interventions, Gold Standard for the Global Goals, to maximise impact, creating value for people around the world and the planet we share.

It is a voluntary carbon offset program focused on progressing the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and ensuring that projects benefit their neighbouring communities.

If ESL Fuels supplies a non-renewable fuel then a choice of Gold Standard projects can be provided. Once issued these will appear in the Gold Standard Impact Registry which tracks environmental assets like carbon credits as well as the associated sustainable development impacts of Gold Standard-certified interventions.
